Who We Are

As running coaches in Halifax, we coach the whole athlete. We get to know you, your goals, what makes you tick and what obstacles you face. We then create a custom training plan incorporating all of this information. We then provide expert support through 1 on 1 coaching sessions and/or online support. You can send us with your training questions, and we will respond with feedback in between coaching sessions. As race day nears we will help prepare to have your best experience and performance.

Customized Training Plans are delivered via the Final Surge web based coaching platform, so you no longer have to deal with numerous spreadsheets and emails. There is even an app so you can have access to your training plan wherever you are!

We firmly believe that in order to perform at your best you have to take care of yourself. We have two main areas which we focus on aside from the running. Self care and mental toughness.

To get the most out of your body you have to take care of it and treat it with respect. It makes sense right? We help you optimize you nutrition/hydration and fuelling. Provide coaching to help you recover faster from workouts and to help you incorporate an injury prevention and maintenance plan.

To perform at your best you have to get your head right. Weather it is trying to find the will to keep pushing at 110% on race day when every once of your body is telling you are finished or you find yourself struggling during workouts. It all starts in your head. We provide coaching to help you become mentally tough.

When it all comes together, we help you remove your perceived limitations to accomplish your goals, weather your running your first 5k, trying to get that Boston qualifying marathon or tackling a 100 mile ultra.

Rick has been an athlete and a coach since an early age. He started competing in sprint canoeing and coached athletes at his home paddling club up to the Canada games level.

Rick started running during his canoe training and continued throughout university. In 2013 he started taking this running hobby seriously and progressed quickly from 10k races to 100 mile ultra marathons. Through this progression he learned that while there is a lot of information out there about running and training plans you can get for free, there is a more efficient and enjoyable way to train. With this realization was born the desire to share this information with others. With a formal training certification from North American Academy For Sport Fitness Professionals , Rick has been coaching runners now for 4 years.

Rick’s running passion is on the trails. He craves the challenge of a trail ultra, and has competed in many from the 50k to 100 mile distances. He also finds a simple joy in honing his speed in road marathons and shorter distance events. He believes mixing up training helps keep you motivated and evolving as a runner.
